Properties located near Metro stations are usually popular with Buyers and can enjoy some increased value because of their proximity to public transportation. I think it's great that Metro will invest $225,000 to install cameras in ten D.C. Metro stations that recorded unfavorable levels of crimes last year. At Metro's Test station, there was a 65% decrease in mainly minor offenses after an exterior camera was installed. Some of the neighborhoods near stations getting cameras are experiencing increased development and investment so this could be very positive news for residents and property owners. However, there's always controversy when Americans are recorded in public spaces.
The Post reported that Metro already has an extensive camera network inside Metro stations and on Metrobuses. So - what do you think? Will these cameras make a difference? Will you be more likely to use Metro if the station has an exterior camera installed?
